Ed Heminger receives the highest award from the Inland
Press Association Ed served as our international president in 1972-73. In 1987 he was elected chairman of the Educational Foundation and held that position until 1993. I have to tell you it is an education in itself to serve under Ed and learn how to conduct a board meeting, how to be sure that a board meting is well organized and how especially to handle the “rocks in the road” that any board faces. Ed is a member of our Distinguished Service Chapter committee, leads the team restoring our Founder’s House at Bethany and is now a Life Director of the Educational Foundation. But back to the headline. Ed just received the Inland Press Association Ralph D. Casey/Minnesota Award, the highest honor this group presents for distinguished public service and leadership in the newspaper industry. The Inland Press Association is made up of 870 newspapers from California to Canada, with the majority in the Midwest. It is given jointly with the School of Journalism of the University of Minnesota. Ed is chairman of the board of Findlay Publishing Company that includes two newspapers and two radio stations in Ohio and five stations in Indiana. Many of you will also know that he has been president of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) and has received its highest award for service to the Interfraternity movement. So in this issue we highlight not some unsung hero, but our own well-known son of Delta Tau Delta. If you would like to congratulate Brother Heminger, write to him c/o The Courier, PO Box 609, Findlay, OH 45839, call 419-422-5151 or email Ed. |
